Step by step.
- Read Currently measured. Each name shows how often it is named in your answers. Those are the businesses your share of voice is divided among.
- To add one, use Tell us who we are missing: the competitor's name as customers would say it, and optionally where you run into them (a market, a service, a type of buyer). Press Add competitor. Up to eight proposals are open at a time.
- Watch the status chip: Awaiting Eidomai review, then Now measured on your battle map, or Not added with a note saying why. Press remove to withdraw one.
- For each name on the list, set what they are to you in the What each one is to you column. Relationships explains the choices.
What happens next. A confirmed addition joins the map at the next monthly run, and the Diagnosis, the lens and the briefs follow it from the next export, usually within a day.
Share of voice is your mentions as a share of everyone's, and everyone means this list. It is built from what the engines actually said, so the businesses on it are the ones taking your answers, whether or not you think of them as competitors.
Two things are yours here. Add a name the engines should be watched for, in the words a customer would use, and it is checked against the measured answers before it joins. And tell the ledger what each name is to you, because a directory holding your answer needs a different plan from a rival holding it.
What the screen is telling you.
- The list is built from the answers, not from a directory. A business is on it because an engine named it for one of your questions.
- Adding a real competitor usually lowers your share of voice, because the field you are measured against grows. It is worth it when the competitor is real: a smaller true number beats a larger false one.
- Every proposal is verified against the measured answers before it joins the map. A business no engine names for your questions is not a competitor on the map, whatever it is on the street.
People ask.
- A business on the list is not a competitor.
- Say so in the What each one is to you column: a directory, a partner, an affiliate, a parent organization, a public body, a customer. It stays measured (the engines name it) but the diagnosis and the lens stop treating it as a rival.
- Can I remove a competitor?
- A proposal of yours, yes, with remove. A business the engines keep naming stays on the list because it is in the answers; set its relationship instead so it is counted correctly.
- Why are name variants listed?
- Engines write the same business several ways. Counting the variants together is what makes the share of voice honest for them and for you.
