Step by step.
- Read the threat ranking first, then open the rival with the highest score.
- Read What they are to you and Their advantage, in your context: the questions they hold that you do not, and why the engines name them.
- Read Through their eyes: how they would come after you, and What their plan would probably say. It is your own diagnosis, written from their side of the map.
- Use the holdings as a target list. Each is a question that rival wins and you do not, and each has a plan on Diagnosis.
What happens next. Pick the rival with the highest threat score and the question they hold that carries the most money. Its plan is on Diagnosis and its brief is on Briefs.
Your battle map says which cells you are losing. The lens says to whom, and why it is working for them. It re-reads the same measurement from each rival's chair: the answers they hold that you do not, what the engines cite when they name them, and what their plan would say if they had one.
It is a target list, not a scoreboard. The rival at the top of the ranking and the question they hold that carries the most money is where a page from you does the most, and that page's brief is already on your Briefs tab.
What the screen is telling you.
- The lens is built from this month's measurement, so it reconciles with the map cell for cell. A rival's share of voice here is the same number their own map would show.
- A name you have marked as a directory, a partner or an affiliate on Your Competitors is shown as where they are named for your questions, not as a rival with a plan.
- How this lens works, at the bottom, explains the method. On a free check or a demo map the lens is a locked sample; the engine builds a real lens once a plan starts.
People ask.
- Why is the lens empty?
- It says the lens is built from this month's measurement and is not ready yet. It appears after the first full monthly run on a plan; a free check or a demo map shows a sample instead.
- Can a rival see my lens?
- No. Every account sees only its own data. The lens is your measurement re-read from their side; nothing of theirs beyond the public answers is in it.
- The threat ranking puts a business first that I do not worry about.
- The ranking counts the answers they hold that you do not, weighted by how much each question matters. If the business is not a rival, set its relationship on Your Competitors and the lens re-reads it on the next export.
