What to do
Step by step.
- Use the month buttons above the grid to look at an earlier month. The current month is marked. Earlier months (n) shows or hides the rest.
- Press What changed. Cells that held steady are dimmed; cells that moved get an edge. Green: you took the answer. Red: you lost it. Amber: it changed hands between others, or it has flipped repeatedly and is unstable ground.
- Click a cell while looking at an earlier month to open its timeline: who held that answer on that engine, month by month.
- Read the count under the lens explainer: This month, n confirmed, n provisional. Treat the confirmed moves as real and the provisional ones as worth watching.
The map is drawn every month, and the second month is where it starts to pay: now there is something to compare against. The What changed lens is that comparison, drawn onto the grid so you can see at a glance where the month moved.
The words to keep straight are held and moved, and confirmed and provisional. Held is a cell that said the same thing two months running. Moved is a cell whose verdict changed. Confirmed is a move that was re-asked enough times to be sure; provisional is one that was not. A page you shipped and a cell that moved after it are shown together on the Overview with their dates, and the honest reading is what came first, not what caused what.
How to read it
What the screen is telling you.
- Held means the cell said the same thing this month as last month. Moved means the verdict changed. Neither is about a single ask; both are about the majority.
- A solid edge is a confirmed move: the cell was re-asked at least five times after it changed and the new verdict held. A dashed edge is provisional: too few asks to separate the change from normal variance. Wait a month before acting on a dashed edge.
- The earliest measured month has nothing to compare against, so the lens is empty there. It means what it says; nothing is wrong.
- What we shipped along the way, on the Overview, sits beside the trend so you can see what came first. Eidomai never claims one month of movement proves cause.
Questions
People ask.
- A cell moved and I did nothing. Why?
- Engines change their answers on their own: new sources, model updates, a competitor's new page. That is why the map is a trend and why a confirmed move needs to hold across asks before it gets a solid edge.
- Where is the answer text for last month?
- The verdict is kept for every month; the readable answers are kept for the current month. The timeline shows who held the cell each month, and the drawer shows this month's evidence.
- How is a page I shipped connected to a move?
- By date. When you mark a page shipped, the date goes on your trend, and the next run grades the page's questions. The Briefs tab shows per question and per engine whether they were gained, held or lost after it went live.
